When it comes to securing that client, first impressions are everything. Here’s what you need to know in order to ensure interview success.
Appearance
Women
If the meeting ground is informal, such as the client’s local pub or their private residence, a suit isn’t always necessity. A nice outfit will do just fine. It is always important, however, to keep the following in mind:
Skirts: not too short! Skirts to the knee are generally considered an appropriate length.
Trousers: Go for a linen pant in the summer, or a dress pant for the rest of the year. Jeans should generally be avoided unless you are meeting with a less corporate client.
Tops: Low v-necks should be avoided.
Footwear: Heels look elegant but can quickly look unprofessional if you’re unable to walk in them. Flats or short heels with a 1-2″ heel are perfectly acceptable.
Men
A business suit is generally the norm, although of course there are occasions when it is perfectly acceptable to lose the suit jacket.
Colour Coordination: Something too bright and you might risk appearing over confident or taking attention away from what you are saying.
Shoes: You may have your favourites but ask yourself if they fit in with your business image.
Happy planning!
