If you’re a Type A personality like me, organization comes relatively easy (as does being a bit of a control-freak, as I’m learning). Here are some ways I’ve started organizing during the preliminary stages of my wedding planning process!
Wedding budget spreadsheet
I downloaded a free wedding budget spreadsheet that allows me to update costs and keeps track of my remaining budget as I go along. I’ve found this to be a great way to see where we’re spending money and where we could maybe cut back.
Email folder/filter
For all things wedding-related, implement filters so anything with the word ‘Wedding’ is automatically sorted into its own folder. This will help keep things organized. You can also break your folder into subfolders of Venue, Florists, Catering, etc, depending on your needs.
Apps
Utilizing apps while you’re on the go is a great way to keep track of thoughts and make notes when you’re away from your computer or notebook. There are also some really helpful wedding specific apps that are perfect for the wedding planning process! Check out yesterday’s post for those.
Event Coordinator
A wedding planner may be an additional cost, but they can also help save you time and stress by coordinating with your vendors and taking the pressure off of you.
One Task at a Time
It’s so easy to get overwhelmed with things to do while planning a wedding, but to avoid becoming disorganized (and super stressed) it’s best to focus on one task at a time. By channeling your focus into single tasks, you’re sure to be more productive, organized and relaxed.
Create a Wedding-Only Email Address
Even the most organized personal inboxes can become overwhelmed with promotional emails, spam and other unwanted messages. When you throw wedding planning related emails into the mix it can get quite overwhelming. To avoid this, create a wedding only email address for all wedding-related communications.
