October is right around the corner and with that comes Oktoberfest! While we may not be in Germany, where Oktoberfest originated, Ontario has some pretty great Oktoberfest events coming up in the next few weeks.
Ottawa, Ontario (ON)
Ottawa’s main Oktoberfest celebration and music festival, Oktoberfest Ottawa, now a popular party, features local performances with special guest stars establishing the Oktoberfest theme and features a wealth of Bavarian entertainment and a wide variety of Bavarian themed and traditional festival food and music and a host of related events.

Toronto’s authentic Oktoberfest celebration, inspired by traditions started in Munich, Germany over 200 years ago, Toronto Oktoberfest brings a taste of Munich to the City through authentic food, drink and merriment. Event highlights include authentic Bavarian fare prepared by Chef Marc Thuet using Piller’s sausages and schnitzel, traditional Festhalle seating and décor, Bavarian dancers and oompah brass bands, traiditonal Oktoberfest games, singing and dancing, and so much more!

Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario (ON)
Labelled as Canada’s Greatest Bavarian Festival, attracting more than a million visitors every year, the nine-day Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest based on the original German Oktoberfest has grown to become the second-largest Oktoberfest in the world. One of the main features of this event is the annual Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade complete with floats and bands, beer, beer-based celebrations, as well as a host of other cultural and entertainment attractions including the crowning of Miss Oktoberfest and the presence of the festival icons, Onkel Hans in his lederhosen and traditional felt hat, and Tante Frieda, a robust lady in a dirndl.
